Author Snapshot Interview: Luke Eastwood

I asked a bunch, or should that perhaps be a 'bibliography' of authors...whatever the collective noun for a group of authors is...a few quick snapshot questions.

This week is...LUKE EASTWOOD

What or who inspires you the most and why?

I find creativity and positivity very inspiring, both in humans and in the natural world outside of humanity. On the other hand negative events can spur you on to do something about them and react in a proactive way. I'd say stimulating events, opinion and ideas leads to your own creative and inspired response, hopefully at least!

Do you have any set daily spiritual practices?

Yes. The first thing I do when I wake up is look out of the window and say a prayer of gratitude. I also do reiki every morning. I also regularly do a Druidic energy exercise or chi gong and I try to do yoga most days. I'll also do meditations or journeys as I see fit, but this is less frequent.

What is your favourite subject to write about and why?

I enjoy writing about social issues that relate to our time - I think it's very needed as humanity is generally a bit lost. We're beginning to realise that our modern way of life is rotten, but have yet to discover a unified way forward. It feels like we are in the process of doing that - humanity is having a collective teenage identity crisis.

Do you have a sacred or spiritual place/area (anywhere in the world) that you feel connected to?

I feel very connected to Ireland where I live, but also feel connected to Taoist, Buddhist and Vedic practices from China, Japan and India. I have visited India, which was a life-changing experience,  but not China or Japan, hopefully one day.

Where do you work your magic/practice your faith? Do you have a special room or area set aside?

I always work outside, regardless of the weather. Often I work outside the house but also often at specific sites on the Dingle peninsula or around Kerry. I do have a space in the  house that I share with my partner but I use it more for meditation than ritual. It would have to be a severe storm or super freezing before I would abandon working outside.

What book/talk/article of yours are you most proud of and why?

My favourite book of mine is 'The Journey', which is my shortest book. It's not a Pagan book, more general gnosticism and eclectic spirituality I guess. It covers environmentalism, tolerance and open-mindedness - areas that I think are sadly lacking at the moment in human consciousness. I think it's the best thing I've ever written.

List of books published, so far:

Where The Hazel Falls The Druid's Primer The Journey Through The Cracks In The Concrete The Wilderness Grows Kerry Folk Tales How To Save The Planet The Druid Garden (early 2021 with Moon Books)
