Magical Food - Carrots

Carrot

(Daucus carota)

Did you know the original carrot was purple and didn’t taste very nice? Talented gardeners developed it into the orange coloured sweet tasting veggie we are familiar with today.

During the Middle Ages physicians prescribed carrots for all sorts of afflictions including syphilis and dog bites.

Heap loads of masculine energy in the carrot and also the magical properties of fertility.

The ancient Greeks made a love potion from carrots which was believed to endow men with passion whilst compelling women to become submissive.

The Roman emperor Caligula was once believed to have fed the senate a banquet of carrot dishes in the hope that it would produce a ‘delightful orgy for his viewing pleasure’.

Wow the humble carrot holds some tantalising magical secrets…who knew?

I will never view the carrot in the same light again…

The magic starts with the choice of food to use, be added in whilst you are preparing and cooking then the magic unfolds as people enjoy your food. Dishes can be created for specific intents, moon phases, and rituals, to celebrate sabbats or just to bring the magic into your family meal. Many food ingredients can also be used very successfully in magical workings in the form of offerings, medicine pouches, witches bottles and poppets. Let's work magic into your cooking...
