Spiced Cookies

These fabulously spiced cookies will bring the smell of Yule to your kitchen!



270g/9.5 oz plain/all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon cornflour/cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground cardamom

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

142g/5 oz butter, softened

200g/7 oz sugar

2 tablespoons honey

1 egg

1 egg yolk


Preheat your oven to 350F/180C/Gas 4.

Mix together the flour, baking powder, cornflour, salt and all the spices.

In a separate bowl beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Whisk in the egg, egg yolk and honey.

Gradually mix in the flour mixture until combined.

Place spoonfuls of the dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart.

Gently flatten the top of each one with a fork.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until light golden brown.
