Witchcraft: Daily Practice - Day 14
The World of Magical Food
One of the areas I love to work with is magical food; just as you would connect with the energies of herbs, plants or crystals, you can do the same with food. Each and every ingredient in your kitchen cupboards, fridge or pantry will have a magical energy. Literally everything from a bag of flour, dried pasta, an apple, a piece of cheese or a tin of beans- all of it has magic. Think about each of the ingredients you use when cooking dinner or making your breakfast, and connect with the energies. What magic can they help with? When adding herbs and spices from your kitchen cupboard, think about their magical energies and what they bring with them. All of these food ingredients can be used in spell working, although some of them can be a bit messy. But each of them will also add magic to your cooking and food for you and your family. We all eat every single day, so make it part of your daily practice to connect with the energy of your ingredients as you cook. Even if you buy a sandwich from a shop or use a microwave meal, they will still have energy you can connect with.
Prompt:
• Pick a different herb or spice from your kitchen cupboard to connect with and work with each day. Keep a note of what energies and magic they have.
• Pick a different tin from your pantry each day. What magic do the contents have?
• Work with a different item from your fridge each day to discover the magic within.
• When you bake a cake, think about each ingredient: the flour, the eggs, the butter; what magic do they bring?
• Try making a dish or baking something with the specific intent of a magical connection or spirituality.
• Think about how you stir or chop; how can you make that magical? Here is a hint: stir clockwise to bring positive energy in, anti-clockwise to release. When washing vegetables, visualise negative energy being released as the soil washes down the plug hole.
• Do not forget the food waste; how can you incorporate fruit pips, nut shells or vegetable peelings into your magical workings?
• Make a poppet from a potato, carrot or apple.
• Draw magical symbols or sigils into your pastry or bread.
